The best robot lawn mowers in Australia

Quick answer: For most suburban lawns up to 600 m², the best robot lawn mower is the Segway Navimow i206 AWD, $2,398 at Bunnings: no boundary wire, no antenna, and all-wheel drive for 45% (24°) slopes. On a tighter budget, the wire-free Ecovacs Goat O600 RTK is $1,299. For big or steep blocks, the Mammotion Luba mini 2 AWD 1500 ($3,399) climbs 80% slopes and needs no satellite signal.

Price at the retailer named, checked 18 October 2026. Prices change, so the retailer's page is the final word. We can't show Amazon prices here; the Amazon button shows today's price. Paid links: we may earn a commission. The highlighted pick is the one we'd buy for most people.

How we picked: We compared these 8 picks on navigation, lawn area, max slope and price, using maker specs, Australian retailer prices and owner reports. We haven't tested them hands-on yet, and maker claims are labelled as theirs. Commission never changes the order. Full method.

A robot lawn mower cuts the grass a little at a time, every few days, and goes back to its dock to charge. In Australia the range now runs from an $899 boundary-wire robot at Bunnings to well over $5,000, and the price buys three things: how big a lawn it is rated for, how steep a slope it can climb, and how it knows where the lawn ends. Prices below are from Bunnings, Robot Mowers Australia, Mammotion, Segway Navimow, Ecovacs and Husqvarna on 18 October 2026; for models also sold on Amazon Australia, check the current price on Amazon. We compared maker specifications and retailer listings; we have not run these robots on our own lawn.

How robot mowers find the edge

This is the first decision, because it decides how much installing you do and which yards a robot copes with.

Type How it works What you install Weak spot Examples here
Boundary wire Follows a low-voltage wire pegged around the lawn and beds The wire and stakes (150 m and 300 stakes with the Aspire R4) Every new garden bed means moving wire Husqvarna Aspire R4 and 405X, Gardena Sileno Minimo
RTK satellite Satellite positioning corrected to a few centimetres, plus a camera A base station, or nothing if it uses network RTK over 4G or Wi-Fi Heavy tree cover and tall walls can block the sky Navimow i206 AWD, Ecovacs Goat O600, Worx Vision Cloud
Camera only Reads the lawn edge by colour and texture Nothing Returns home in rain or low light (eufy) eufy C15, Bosch VisiMow
LiDAR A spinning laser maps the yard in 3D, plus cameras Nothing Price Mammotion Yuka mini 2 and Luba mini 2, Dreame A1 Pro

The wire-free robot mower guide goes deeper on RTK base stations, network RTK and 4G costs.

Size it on area, then slope

Measure the lawn, not the block. A 15 x 20 m backyard plus a 6 x 10 m front lawn is 360 m², which sits inside a 400 m² rating but leaves no headroom; a 600 m² robot is the safer buy. Then find your steepest patch. Makers rate slope as a percentage: 45% means 45 cm of rise over 1 m, which is about 24 degrees, not 45. Two-wheel-drive robots here are rated from 25% (Gardena Minimo 250) to 45% (Ecovacs Goat O600, Roborock Q105). Anything steeper calls for all-wheel drive, which the robot mower for slopes guide covers model by model.

The Navimow i206 AWD, Ecovacs O600, both Husqvarnas and all three Mammotions are also on Amazon Australia, mostly sold by the makers’ own seller accounts. The Bosch VisiMow 18V-200 is sold by Amazon itself; check the current price on Amazon, and note it comes without a battery.

The picks

The Segway Navimow i206 AWD is the one we would buy for a typical suburban yard. It maps the lawn through the app with network RTK and a camera, so there is no wire to bury and, unlike many RTK robots, no antenna to mount. Three motors drive all wheels for a 45% (24°) slope rating, and it carries its own 4G connection; the Amazon listing says the first year of service is included. Bunnings has it for $2,398. The battery is small at 2.55 Ah, so it mows in short runs and recharges often, and retailers disagree on its cutting height (50 to 90 mm at Bunnings and Amazon, 20 to 60 mm on Navimow’s own page), so confirm that if you like a short cut.

The Ecovacs Goat O600 RTK is the value pick at $1,299 from Bunnings or Ecovacs. It is wire-free, rated for 600 m² and 45% slopes, and its 30 to 80 mm cutting range in 5 mm steps is wider than most. The trade-offs are a 45 minute run time on the Amazon listing and an edge cut that stops about 10.5 cm short of borders.

If your lawn is under big trees, satellites are the weak point, and the Mammotion Yuka mini 2 1000 sidesteps them with LiDAR. It needs no base station, network service or antenna, it is IP67 rated, and Mammotion Australia sells it for $2,299 with a three-year warranty and 30-day returns. For slopes, the Mammotion Luba mini 2 AWD 1500 adds all-wheel drive rated for 80% (38.6°) and a separate edge disc, with built-in 4G and three years of data, for $3,399 at Robot Mowers Australia. The Luba 3 AWD 1500 ($3,899) doubles the cutting width to 400 mm across two discs for the same area.

Prefer a proven boundary-wire robot? Husqvarna was running a half-price campaign on the Automower 405X when we checked: $1,434 with a small installation kit, down from $2,868. It is rated for 600 m² and 40% slopes (15% along the boundary itself) and has GPS theft tracking, a PIN and an alarm. The Gardena Sileno Minimo 250 is the cheapest robot we found at Bunnings, $899 for lawns up to 250 m², and the Bosch VisiMow 18V-200 is a camera-only robot for courtyards up to 200 m² that Bosch calls semi-autonomous.

Weighing the two big wire-free brands against each other? The Mammotion vs Segway Navimow comparison matches them model for model. Under $1,500, see the budget robot mower guide.

Blades, children and pets

Most robot mowers here use small pivoting razor blades on a spinning disc rather than one big blade, but they are still blades. Report only what each maker states: Gardena says the Minimo’s lift sensor stops the blades immediately, Dreame says the A1 Pro sounds an alert and messages your phone when lifted, and eufy says the C15 stops when it detects small animals and pets. None of that replaces common sense. Schedule mowing for times when children and pets are inside, and set no-go zones around play areas, pools and steep drops in the app. Mammotion says the Yuka mini 2 detects drop-offs such as steps and pool edges; treat that as a backup, not a fence.

When to buy

Lawns grow fastest from spring into summer, so September to December is when most people shop for a mower. Black Friday, at the end of November, is the next big sale period. Three prices on this site were already sale prices on 18 October: the Navimow i105A and i108A at Robot Mowers Australia, and the Husqvarna 405X campaign. If you are not in a hurry, note today’s price and compare in late November.

The one trap

Reading the lawn area on the box as what the robot cuts in one go. It is the area the maker says it can keep mown over a week of regular runs, spread across many charges. Mammotion rates the Yuka mini 2 for 1,000 m² but quotes about 200 to 250 m² per charge, and the Navimow i105A runs for 60 minutes before it heads home. That is normal, because robots mow little and often, but it means a robot rated at exactly your lawn size will spend every available hour mowing and fall behind in a growth spurt. Buy the next size up, and if you would rather mow once a week yourself, a battery lawn mower is the cheaper tool.

Frequently asked questions

Are robot lawn mowers worth it in Australia?

For a lawn you mow every week or two through spring and summer, yes: a robot cuts a little and often, mulches the clippings, and needs no weekend time beyond clearing toys off the lawn. The case is weakest for a very small or very steep lawn, where a $228 to $499 battery push mower does the job.

Do robot mowers need a boundary wire?

Not any more. Boundary-wire robots such as the Husqvarna Aspire R4 and Gardena Sileno are cheaper, but most new models map the lawn with RTK satellite positioning, cameras or LiDAR and keep to a virtual boundary you draw in the app.

How big a lawn can a robot mower handle?

Each model has a rated area, from 200 m² (Bosch VisiMow) to 5,000 m² (Segway Navimow X450 AWD). Buy one rated comfortably above your lawn, and remember the rating is spread over several charges and often several days.

Can a robot mower handle slopes?

Most two-wheel-drive robots are rated to 25 to 45%. All-wheel-drive models such as the Mammotion Luba range are rated to 80% (38.6°). Makers quote percent, not degrees: 45% is about 24°. See our slopes guide before buying for a hilly block.

Where can I buy a robot lawn mower in Australia?

Bunnings stocks Segway Navimow, Mammotion, Ecovacs, Gardena, Worx, Roborock and Ozito robots. Robot Mowers Australia sells Navimow and Mammotion, Husqvarna sells online and through dealers, and Amazon Australia lists Mammotion, Navimow, Ecovacs, Husqvarna, eufy, Dreame and Bosch.
